Negotiation pays off
Conditions: Sunny, in that cliched manner.
Something surprising happened this week: The Americans negotiated for peace, and it worked. Naturally, the conservatives are not happy. But the possibility remains that North Korea could be on it's way to disarming it's Nuclear Weapons. Let's hear from John Bolton, former American ambassador to the U.N. John?
"This is a very bad deal," Bolton told CNN television, saying it contradicts Bush's policy and would show US weakness at a time when it is challenging Iran over its controversial nuclear program.
"I'm hoping that the president has not been fully briefed on it and he still has time to reject it," he said.
Well that's a shame. But surely, John, the administration using it's considerable power to negotiate a compromise that everyone is happy with actually speaks well to the U.S's foreign policy?
"If the would-be proliferators can simply through persistence get the United States to compromise on its basic principles, they're going to succeed in proliferation. That's why this deal is such a bad precedent," Bolton said.
Well, I guess you can't please everyone. Still, if I had to choose between North Korea disarming it's nukes, and America trying to intimidate everyone in order to get it's way, then I guess Bolton's never going to be happy. But screw him. Read more about the unhappy republicans here. Aww, the poor guys. they just want to exert their dominance over everyone. More here.
Car Update.
Okay, in the last thrilling episode, we were overheating before breaking down and getting towed. Which, importantly, is the first time in 12 years I've had a car towed on the back of a truck before. It's nice to find new things after all these years. Anyway, a day later I was informed the car had been repaired. Specifically, the reasons it had broke down had been repaired, but it still was overheating. So it was down the road to a radiator specialist, who took a day to clean the radiator out of all the accumulated gunk that gets in there, which they say was the problem. Fair enough. I pick it up and take it to lunch, and it overheats again!!
I drive it back and proceed to have a very bizzare conversation with the mechanics over whether nor not my overheating car is in fact overheating. They remained unconvinced to my arguments even though they're backed up by such trivial things as the temp gauge and the smell of the engine overheating. Picture three of us standing in front of the idling car arguing over whether it's overheating or not. Finally, even the car got fed up and started gushing water onto the ground in frustration. "What about that, then?" I say sarcastically. Check and mate, Mr Mechanic.
So, it's still being fixed. I hope to have it for the weekend.
What we're listening to: Friday.
A track for the weekend, by some dude called Daughtry. Takes all kinds.
Peace out.
